File SyncLocal File Sharing System

An offline-first desktop application engineered for secure, low-cost file sharing and backup across a local network without internet dependencies or cloud infrastructure. Designed specifically for internal R&D formulation teams, the system enables seamless workstation synchronization entirely within an isolated local network environment. Built as a tailored, zero-maintenance alternative to complex self-hosted cloud suites, it prioritizes absolute data privacy, rapid local transfers, and operational simplicity.

Node.jsElectron

Description

FileSync is a lightweight desktop application developed to enable secure file sharing and backup over a local network without relying on internet connectivity or third-party cloud infrastructure. The system was designed for internal operational use, particularly to help the R&D (formulation) team back up and synchronize files across office workstations.

Although self-hosted cloud platforms already exist, the project was intentionally developed as a custom offline-first solution to meet the company’s requirement for a fully local, low-cost, and easy-to-use file synchronization system that could operate entirely within the internal network environment.

Key Features

LAN-Bound Ingestion Engine
Enables high-speed, secure file uploads and asset synchronization to a centralized storage server over local area networks.
Isolated Multi-Tenant Clustering
Backend directory architecture that dynamically organizes, maps, and isolates stored assets inside dedicated per-user workspace clusters.
Native Desktop Architecture
Lightweight, cross-platform desktop client engineered entirely with Node.js and Electron, intentionally bypassing third-party framework overhead for maximum efficiency.
